Greenfly Extends Partnership with Big Ten and Big Ten Network to Power Distribution of Short-Form Content to Student-Athletes

Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network to continue providing student-athletes access to real-time content to grow their personal brands and drive fan engagement

SANTA MONICA, Calif. and CHICAGO (September 17, 2025) – Greenfly, the leader in powering short-form content operations for the world of sports and entertainment, today announced a multi-year extension of its partnership with the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network. The expanded deal builds on the continued success of delivering real-time broadcast highlights and short-form content directly to all Big Ten student-athletes, helping them grow their personal brands.

“Partnering with Greenfly has allowed us to empower Big Ten student-athletes in their biggest moments,” said Big Ten Conference Chief Operating Officer, Kerry Kenny. “Distributing content quickly and efficiently gives them the opportunity to share their stories, engage their communities and capitalize on their success.”

The Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network began working with Greenfly in 2023 to give student-athletes real-time access to short-form content from games and events – making it easier to build their brands and drive fan engagement across the conference. Since then, millions of photos and videos have been delivered through curated galleries powered by Greenfly’s AI, which uses scene detection to automatically tag and route content to all 18 Big Ten schools and their more than 14,000 student-athletes.

“Greenfly provides incredible technology and infrastructure for both Big Ten student-athletes and their member institutions,” said Big Ten Network SVP, Programming and Digital Media, Michael Calderon. “The ability to celebrate every significant win, play or highlight is now in the hands of student-athletes and allows thousands of hours of footage to be distilled into easily sharable pieces of content.”

USC Football saw a major spike in athlete-driven social engagement, with over 70,000 assets shared during the 2024 season. Iowa activated all sports on the platform and saw strong adoption, with 89% of student-athletes engaging and more than 250,000 photos and videos distributed.

University of Southern California Senior Associate Athletic Director Cody Worsham said: “Greenfly is exceptionally designed to power our creative efforts. It helps us ensure USC is the place to be for both elite student-athletes and talented creatives.”

University of Iowa Director of Social Media and Digital Strategy Brandee Britt said: “Our use of Greenfly aligns perfectly with our mission to support all 23 sports equally. Everyone gets access to content, and we’ve seen teams like track absolutely take off. The streamlining of and the management and retrieval of content is huge – I would spend hours either tagging or dropping photos into different folders and organizing, and that is hours of time I can now use somewhere else.”

University of Michigan Director of Hockey Communications Kristi McNeil said: “Greenfly gives our student-athletes a professional tool they’ll use beyond college – some came in already familiar with it from NHL development camps.”

Through the extended partnership, the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network will continue delivering real-time broadcast highlights and short-form video to student-athletes across all sports. Member schools will also continue leveraging Greenfly’s enhanced content operations tools, enabling more efficient workflows, streamlined asset management and broader activation across teams and departments.

These tools have played a key role in powering campaigns around tentpole moments like the Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game, where fans in Indianapolis were encouraged to share photos and videos that the conference later repurposed, and the collection of congratulatory fan content for Caitlin Clark after she broke the NCAA Division I all-time scoring record, which was turned into a branded asset with State Farm.

“This expanded partnership reflects how far college sports have come, and how much today’s athletes need tools built for this new era,” Greenfly CEO Daniel Kirschner said. “Student-athletes have more opportunity than ever to grow their brands and engage fans, but to do that effectively, they need real-time access to content through the same powerful infrastructure the pros use. If you’re playing college basketball today, you want the same support the NBA relies on. The Big Ten is leading the way, giving their athletes a world-class content experience that drives engagement, builds audience, and unlocks real value.”

Greenfly’s expanded partnership with the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network marks a significant milestone as the company continues bringing its technology trusted by over 1,300 organizations worldwide and professional leagues like MLB, the NBA and NHL to the college level.
